Jind Police Launches Major Anti-Drug Operation 'Aakraman' with 400 Personnel

In a significant crackdown on narcotics networks, the Jind police executed a large-scale coordinated operation named Operation Aakraman on Saturday. This operation, described as one of the biggest anti-drug drives in recent months, involved the deployment of nearly 400 police personnel across five identified drug-sensitive locations within the district.

Coordinated Raids Across Vulnerable Areas

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Rana addressed the media, explaining that the operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh. It was part of an intensified campaign aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks. Simultaneous raids were carried out in multiple areas, including Lohchab, Aftabgarh, Dera Sacha Singh, Sandil villages, and Chamela Colony in Narwana town, all identified as vulnerable pockets for drug activities.

In Narwana's Chamela Colony, police teams from Sadar Narwana police station, Garhi police station, and CIA Narwana conducted door-to-door verification and searches under DSP Rana's leadership. Meanwhile, in the Safidon subdivision, DSP Gaurav Sharma supervised multiple teams, including SHO Sadar Safidon Rajesh Sharma and Alewa police, to execute structured search operations.

Seizures and Multi-Agency Enforcement

During the operation, police seized several items found in suspicious condition, including:

  • Two laptops
  • A Swift Dzire car
  • Six motorcycles

Officials stated that verification of ownership and potential criminal links is currently underway. In a parallel action, the electricity department issued 10 challans in Chamela Colony for alleged power theft, imposing penalties totaling nearly Rs 3 lakh.

The operation also involved the dog squad and featured logistical coordination between multiple departments. Police described this as a "multi-agency enforcement model", highlighting the collaborative effort to combat drug-related crimes.

Strict Warnings and Ongoing Investigations

DSP Rana issued a stern warning to drug traffickers, emphasizing that investigations into illegally acquired properties and unauthorized constructions linked to the narcotics trade are ongoing. He noted that several accused have already been booked under the PIT NDPS Act, with further preventive detention and property attachment proceedings being pursued.

SP Kuldeep Singh appealed to residents to report any drug-related activities, assuring confidentiality for informants. He added that with Operation Aakraman, the Jind police are signaling a tougher enforcement stance. The aim is not only to target street-level peddlers but also to dismantle the financial backbone of the narcotics network in the district.
