Kadapa Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath personally handed over the recovered mobile phones to their rightful owners at a special mobile mela camp held in Kadapa on Wednesday. Cumulative Recovery Totals 5,877 Phones Worth Rs 11.7 Crore
SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath revealed that, through the eight phases of Operation Mobi Track, the district police have achieved a remarkable cumulative recovery of 5,877 stolen or lost mobile phones, with a total worth of approximately Rs 11.7 crore. This substantial figure underscores the scale of the operation and its effectiveness in curbing mobile theft in the region.
Public Advisory on Cyber Threats and Lost Devices
During the camp, the SP urged the public to remain vigilant against cyber threats and provided essential guidelines to follow in case a mobile phone is lost or stolen. Key recommendations include:
- Immediately report the loss to the police and your service provider.
- Use tracking features like Find My Device to locate the phone.
- Change passwords for linked accounts to prevent unauthorized access.
Warning Against Purchasing Second-Hand Phones Without Bills
The police department issued a stern warning against buying second-hand mobile phones from strangers without a valid bill. Such purchases could inadvertently involve citizens in cybercrimes or theft cases, as these devices might be linked to illegal activities. The advisory emphasizes the importance of verifying the legitimacy of second-hand phones to avoid legal complications.
