Kadapa District Witnesses Heinous Crime Over Marriage Proposal Rejection
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 19-year-old youth allegedly murdered a minor girl after she refused to marry him. The brutal crime occurred on Friday at Agraharam under Khazipet mandal in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to Khazipet police, the accused, identified as Venkatesh from Anjaneya Kottala village, had been persistently harassing the 16-year-old victim. He repeatedly pressured her to marry him, despite her clear refusal. The girl had explicitly stated that she would only marry someone chosen by her parents, but Venkatesh continued his unwelcome advances.
The situation escalated dramatically on Friday morning when the girl's parents were away from home. Seizing the opportunity, Venkatesh barged into the house and confronted the girl alone. What began as another argument about marriage quickly turned violent when Venkatesh pulled out a knife he was carrying and slit the girl's throat.
Immediate Aftermath and Police Response
As the victim screamed for help and collapsed, Venkatesh fled the scene. Alerted by the commotion, neighbors rushed to the house and immediately transported the bleeding girl to a local hospital. While arrangements were being made to transfer her to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa for advanced treatment, she tragically succumbed to excessive blood loss.
The Khazipet police swiftly registered a case and transported the victim's body to RIMS-Kadapa for a post-mortem examination. Following the necessary procedures, the body was handed over to the grieving family. Police demonstrated remarkable efficiency by apprehending Venkatesh within hours of the murder as he attempted to flee the area.
Community Outrage and Demands for Justice
The brutal killing has sparked widespread outrage in the community. The girl's family members, relatives, and representatives from various women's organizations gathered at Khazipet to stage protests demanding justice for the victim. Protesters are calling for the strictest possible punishment for Venkatesh, emphasizing the need to send a strong message against such gender-based violence.
This tragic incident highlights the persistent issue of harassment and violence against women, particularly in cases involving rejected marriage proposals. The community's response underscores the growing demand for stronger protection mechanisms and swifter justice in crimes against women and minors.
