Kalaburagi: City police commissioner Sharanappa SD and the additional district magistrate have ordered the arrest of rowdy-sheeter Ravikumar Tukaram, 37, under the Goonda Act. He has been detained in Ballari Central Jail.
Details of the Accused
Ravikumar, a resident of Hanumana Nagar in CJ Colony in Kalaburagi, is described as a habitual offender. A total of nine cases have been registered against him. From 2008 to 2026, as many as 18 cases, including two under the BNS Act-2023, two under the CrPC, and two under the Indian Civil Protection Code, totalling 24 cases, were registered against him. He was classified as an ‘A’ category rowdy-sheeter.
Offences Committed
Police said he was involved in serious offences including murder, attempt to murder, robbery, extortion, theft, assault on women, and criminal intimidation. These incidents were reported in various police station limits.
Legal Action
The order for detention was based on a report submitted by PI Guru Patil of Station Bazar police station. The report stated that it was necessary to detain the accused under the Goonda Act to curb his illegal activities. Following this, police commissioner Sharanappa SD and the additional district magistrate issued the detention order, leading to his arrest and transfer to Ballari Central Jail.
