Kalyan Man Dies by Suicide Following Domestic Dispute Over Cooking
A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of April 3 when a 49-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after jumping in front of a moving train between Ambernath and Badlapur railway stations in Kalyan. The deceased has been identified as Ravikant Adangale, a resident of Kalyan who worked for a private company.
Suicide Note Points to Family Harassment
According to the Kalyan Government Railway Police, the incident occurred around 1 am. Officers recovered a suicide note from Adangale's pocket at the scene, which reportedly detailed ongoing domestic conflicts. In the note, Adangale blamed his wife Rashmi, mother-in-law Aruna Nirbhavne, and sister-in-law Sunita Rajendra Gaikwad for subjecting him to continuous mental and physical harassment.
The note specifically mentioned that his wife refused to cook food for him and his family, which included his mother and sister. This forced them to eat outside regularly. Adangale also alleged that his wife neglected household responsibilities and that frequent arguments had become commonplace in their home.
Police Register Case Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Based on the contents of the suicide note, the Kalyan GRP has registered a formal case against the three accused women. The charges have been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 108, 352, and 3(5), for alleged abetment to suicide.
Senior police inspector Pandhari Kande confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. "We have registered the case and begun further investigation," Kande stated, adding that the suicide note clearly pointed to ongoing domestic disputes as the primary motivation for the extreme step.
