Kanpur Mandates HSRP for PUC Certificates from April 15
Kanpur: HSRP Mandatory for PUC from April 15

Kanpur Enforces High Security Registration Plates for PUC Certificates

In a significant move to enhance vehicle security and pollution control measures, Kanpur has announced that High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) will become mandatory for obtaining Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates starting April 15. This directive, issued by the Transport Department, aims to streamline vehicle registration processes and improve environmental compliance across the city.

Technical Upgrades on PUCC Portal

The Transport Department has implemented a new technical system on the PUCC portal through the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to facilitate this change. Alok Kumar Singh, ARTO (Administration), stated on Thursday that these modifications are in accordance with government directives, making the affixing of HSRPs compulsory for all vehicles. He emphasized that from April 15 onwards, PUC certificates will not be issued to vehicles lacking an HSRP, urging owners to install them promptly to avoid future inconveniences.

Exemptions and Clarifications

While the rule is broadly applicable, the RTO administration has clarified that temporary exemptions are in place for vehicle manufacturers whose certain models currently do not have HSRPs available. This measure ensures a phased implementation without disrupting vehicle owners unduly. The initiative is part of a larger effort to boost road safety and reduce pollution by ensuring all vehicles are properly registered and monitored.
