A tragic murder-suicide case has emerged in Kanpur Dehat, where a 25-year-old man allegedly slit the throat of a 15-year-old girl before taking his own life by hanging. The incident occurred on Tuesday, leaving the local community in shock.

The police have recovered a mobile phone and the weapon used in the crime, which are currently being examined. According to authorities, the man and the girl were in a relationship, but the girl's family opposed their marriage. Enraged by this opposition, the man allegedly killed the girl and later died by suicide.

The man, a resident of Akaru, had no children and had called his nephew to care for him as his health deteriorated. During this period, the nephew developed a relationship with a distant relative living in the neighbourhood. The girl was a minor, aged 15, and the two were reportedly distant relatives.

Police investigation revealed that discussions took place between the two families on Tuesday regarding the relationship. Both sides agreed that the couple should stay away from each other. However, shortly after these discussions, the man allegedly committed the crime.
Post-Mortem and Evidence
The post-mortem report stated that the accused died of asphyxiation caused by hanging, while the girl's death resulted from excessive blood loss due to a slit throat. ASP Alok Prasad confirmed that the police team recovered a blood-stained vegetable knife used in the crime from near the girl's body. Additionally, a mobile phone that the accused had given the girl was recovered, while his own phone was found near his body. Both devices will be sent for examination to ascertain the sequence of events and establish the facts of the case.
