Karkala Rural Police Crack Two Theft Cases, Arrest Accused
Karkala Rural police have registered two separate cases and made arrests in connection with attempted theft and house break-ins within their jurisdiction. The swift action highlights police efforts to curb property crimes in the area.
First Case: Credit Cooperative Society Break-in
On January 16, a man attempted to commit theft by breaking into a credit cooperative society under the Karkala Rural police station limits. Police registered a case immediately and launched an investigation.
Officers examined CCTV footage from the scene, which led to the identification and arrest of the accused on Saturday. The arrested individual is Suresh Koraga Poojary, a 53-year-old resident of Nitte post and village in Karkala taluk.
Authorities produced him before a court, where he was remanded to judicial custody. Police revealed that Poojary has multiple theft cases registered against him in various jurisdictions, including Karkala Town, Karkala Rural, Padubidri, Belthangady, Udupi Town, and even Goa.
Second Case: Theft from Unoccupied Houses
In a separate incident, Karkala Rural police arrested a West Bengal native for allegedly breaking into unoccupied houses and committing theft. The accused is Manotosh Kayal, 39, who currently resides at Ganjimutt in Mangaluru.
According to police reports, Kayal roamed different areas during the daytime. He identified houses that remained locked for extended periods, broke open the locks, and stole items. A case was registered at the Karkala Rural police station following these activities.
Udupi SP Hariram Shankar stated that in this particular incident, the accused stole a battery from one of the targeted houses. The arrest underscores police vigilance against crimes targeting vacant properties.
Police Team Effort
The arrests were made by a dedicated police team operating under the guidance of DSP Karkala sub-division, Prabhu DT, and inspector Manjappa. The team was led by Karkala Rural police station PSI Prasanna MS, with support from PSI Sundar, ASIs Prakash and Sundar Gowda, among others.
This coordinated effort demonstrates the police department's commitment to solving crimes and maintaining law and order in the region. The successful crackdown on these theft cases sends a strong message to potential offenders.
