Kaushambi Murder Case: Accused Used Google to Plan Girlfriend's Killing

In a shocking crime from Kaushambi district near Prayagraj, a man allegedly murdered his 40-year-old girlfriend after extensively searching Google for methods to kill and avoid police detection. The victim, identified as Urmila Devi from Mohhabatpur Painsa, was found dead near the Parsipur village railway track on February 7, with her mouth taped and legs tied with rope.

Police Crack Case Within 24 Hours Using Digital Evidence

Police investigators made a breakthrough within just one day of discovering the body, using social media platforms to identify the victim and track down the perpetrators. The autopsy report confirmed death by strangulation, which led authorities to focus their investigation on individuals known to the victim.

The prime accused, Dinesh Kumar, and his cousin Ranjeet Kumar, both residents of Mohhabatpur Painsa, were apprehended as they were preparing to flee the area. During interrogation, police discovered crucial digital evidence on their mobile phones.

Forensic examination of the accused's phones uncovered disturbing search queries including:

• "how to get rid of a woman (lover)"
• "how to kill a lover"
• "evade police action"

These searches provided investigators with clear evidence of premeditation and planning behind the brutal crime.

Relationship Timeline and Motive for Murder

According to SP Kaushambi Rajesh Kumar, Dinesh Kumar confessed during police questioning that he first met Urmila Devi approximately two years ago while paying an electricity bill. The relationship developed over time, with Dinesh frequently visiting the woman's home after she lost her husband a couple of years earlier.

The situation turned deadly when Dinesh's family arranged his marriage about two months prior to the murder. Urmila Devi reportedly began threatening to report their relationship to police and file an FIR against him. Feeling trapped with no apparent alternative, Dinesh turned to his cousin Ranjeet for assistance.

The two men conspired to eliminate Urmila Devi in what they believed would be a foolproof manner. After researching methods online, they devised a strategy that involved luring the victim to the Parsipur railway underpass on February 7.

Ranjeet was already positioned at the location when Dinesh brought Urmila to the site. The duo then strangled the woman to death and dumped her body near the railway tracks, attempting to stage the scene as an accidental death.

Police officials noted that the accused cracked under sustained questioning, revealing the complete sequence of events that led to the tragic outcome. The case highlights both the disturbing potential for digital evidence in criminal investigations and the extreme measures some individuals will take when faced with relationship complications.
