Kedarnath Dham Implements Strict Videography Ban to Preserve Sanctity
In a significant move to uphold the spiritual atmosphere, the administration of Kedarnath Dham has enforced stringent security and management protocols for the ongoing pilgrimage season. Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar made a formal announcement on Tuesday, detailing comprehensive restrictions aimed at maintaining the temple's dignity.
Complete Prohibition on Electronic Devices
The use of mobile phones, drones, or any cameras for videography has been entirely banned within the sacred temple premises. This decisive action is part of the newly issued guidelines designed to prevent disruptions during worship. SP Tomar explicitly stated that creating reels or any form of video recording in the temple courtyard is strictly prohibited.
"The gates of Kedarnath Dham are scheduled to open on April 22 at 8:00 AM. We have already witnessed the arrival of the 'Doli' (palanquin) along with a substantial influx of devotees. In line with this year's guidelines, making any kind of reels or videography in the temple courtyard is prohibited. The use of mobile phones within our perimeter is also prohibited," SP Niharika Tomar informed ANI.
Administrative Support Systems Established
To assist devotees in complying with these regulations, the temple administration has proactively set up a mobile counter and locker system. This facility allows pilgrims to securely store their electronic devices before entering the restricted areas, ensuring a seamless and respectful experience.
"I would like to appeal to all devotees not to engage in any kind of videography or create reels within the temple premises. This collective effort is crucial for preserving its dignity and sanctity," emphasized SP Tomar, highlighting the importance of visitor cooperation.
Drone Operations Strictly Regulated
Alongside the ban on personal devices, flying drones without explicit permission is also strictly prohibited in the vicinity. Authorities have already taken enforcement action against two unauthorized drones, signaling a zero-tolerance approach. SP Tomar confirmed that such measures will continue throughout the pilgrimage season to safeguard both security and spiritual integrity.
"Today, we have taken action against two drones that were being flown without authorization. This vigilant monitoring will persist in the future. Therefore, I earnestly request everyone to refrain from such unauthorized activities for the sake of the Dham's security and sanctity," the official reiterated.
Pilgrimage Season Commences with Record Attendance
The Char Dham Yatra officially began on April 19, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya, drawing record numbers of pilgrims to the base camps. Despite the festive enthusiasm, authorities have issued advisories for devotees to carry heavy woollens, as temperatures hover near freezing due to recent snowfall.
As the sun rises on April 22, the echoing sounds of conch shells and chants of "Kedar Baba Ki Jai" will ceremoniously mark the end of the six-month winter hiatus. This reopening welcomes the world back to one of India's most revered pilgrimage sites, now under enhanced protective measures.
The administration has earnestly urged all devotees to adhere to these rules and actively contribute to maintaining the temple's sacred environment. These steps reflect a balanced approach to managing large-scale pilgrimages while honoring traditional values.
