Kenyan illegal in Mumbai for 26 years arrested

A Kenyan national who had been living illegally in India for 26 years was arrested by the Vakola Police in Mumbai. The accused, identified as Osino Omandi, 61, was residing in a chawl on Nehru Road in Santacruz East.

Details of the Arrest

The Vakola Police's Anti-Terrorism Cell received specific intelligence regarding a foreign national living in the chawl for an extended period. Upon inquiry, it was discovered that Omandi's visa had expired in the year 2000, and he had no valid documentation to stay in India. He was found in possession of a Kenyan passport.

Legal Proceedings

Following his arrest, the Vakola Police informed the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and the Special Branch (SB) II of the Mumbai Police to initiate deportation proceedings. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Inspector Prakash Khandekar and DCP Nimit Goyal.
