Family Dispute Escalates into Violent Stabbing Incident in Thiruvananthapuram
A domestic argument spiraled into a violent attack in Chowara, Thiruvananthapuram, on Monday night, resulting in two family members being stabbed and hospitalized in critical condition. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a police investigation.
Details of the Violent Altercation
According to the Vizhinjam police, the accused, identified as 28-year-old Jithin, was involved in a quarrel with his wife, Nabendu, earlier in the day. The tension between the couple reportedly boiled over around 9:30 PM when Jithin arrived at his wife's residence to meet her.
When Nabendu did not respond to his repeated calls to come outside, Jithin allegedly began creating a disturbance. Hearing the commotion, his 47-year-old mother-in-law, Bindu, exited the house to intervene. In a sudden and violent turn, Jithin is accused of stabbing Bindu in her left palm with a knife.
Escalation and Further Violence
The family immediately informed Bindu's son, Navendan, about the attack. Upon arriving at the scene, Navendan confronted Jithin, leading to an altercation. During this confrontation, Jithin allegedly stabbed Navendan as well, intensifying the violence.
As the situation unfolded, locals and relatives gathered at the spot, responding to the noise and chaos. In a retaliatory move, the crowd allegedly assaulted Jithin, adding to the injuries sustained during the incident.
Aftermath and Police Action
All three individuals involved were rushed to the Medical College Hospital for urgent treatment. Bindu and Navendan were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to the severity of their stab wounds. Jithin was also admitted to the same hospital for injuries he sustained during the assault by the crowd.
The Vizhinjam police have registered a case in connection with the stabbing and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the violent outbreak.
