Kerala Teenager Found Dead at Chikkamagaluru Waterfall Site
The tragic discovery of a young girl's body near the scenic Manikyadhara waterfalls in Chikkamagaluru has sent shockwaves through the community. Sreenandhana, a Class 10 student from Kerala who was visiting the area with her family, was found deceased on Friday afternoon, prompting a thorough police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Timeline of the Tragic Incident
Sreenandhana had been enjoying a family trip to Chikkamagaluru when she mysteriously went missing on April 7. After an extensive search effort, her body was located near the waterfalls at noon on Friday. The discovery marked a devastating turn in what had begun as a joyful family vacation.
Medical Examination and Initial Findings
Following the discovery, the body was transported to Araluguppe Mallegowda District Hospital where a comprehensive postmortem examination was conducted. Preliminary medical reports indicate that Sreenandhana suffered a severe head injury that proved fatal. The examination revealed multiple wounds and bone fractures across various parts of her body, suggesting significant trauma.
Police Investigation and Family Concerns
Local police authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. While the medical evidence points to traumatic injuries, police officials have stated that the exact circumstances leading to her fall from the hill remain undetermined. Investigative teams are working diligently to reconstruct the events that preceded the tragedy.
"The reason for her falling off the hill is yet to be ascertained," confirmed a police officer involved in the case. "Our teams are thoroughly investigating all possibilities."
Despite police assurances of a comprehensive investigation, family members have expressed serious concerns about potential foul play. They emphasize that Sreenandhana had recently informed them of her excellent performance in the Class 10 examinations and showed no signs of distress that might suggest suicidal tendencies.
Final Journey and Family Response
After the postmortem examination was completed, Sreenandhana's remains were released to her grieving family members. They transported her body back to their hometown in Palakkad, Kerala, where final rites were performed at 1:45 PM on Saturday at the Pampady Ivormadom crematorium in Thiruvilwamala.
Ramesh, Sreenandhana's father, publicly acknowledged the efforts of police and rescue teams while pledging full cooperation with the ongoing investigation. "We thank the authorities for their assistance during this difficult time," he stated. "We will continue to cooperate fully as they work to determine what truly happened to our daughter."
The family's persistent doubts about the official narrative highlight the emotional complexity of the case. Their insistence that Sreenandhana had no reason to harm herself adds another layer to an already tragic situation that has left both communities in mourning.
