Nagpur: More than three months after the murder of Congress leader Hidayat Patel in Akot town of Akola district, one of the alleged key conspirators, Raju Boche, was arrested on Thursday evening in Nagpur. The incident occurred in January, and Boche's arrest marks a significant development in the case.
Sources said that Boche was traced to Ravi Bhavan by the supporters of the slain Congress leader. As he attempted to flee, a scuffle ensued, leaving him injured. Patel's supporters immediately handed him over to the Sadar police station. Later, a team from Akot police took him into their custody.
Police sources confirmed that Boche had arrived in Nagpur specifically to meet his lawyer. Akola Superintendent of Police, Archit Chandak, stated that the accused is being brought to Akola for further questioning and proceedings.
Although Boche was not physically present at the murder spot, he faces charges owing to deep-rooted political rivalry. Boche's arrest is being viewed as a major breakthrough in the political murder that sent shock waves across the Vidarbha region. Akot police have already arrested two other persons linked to the killing.
