Sacrilege Incident in Khanna Sparks Community Outrage and Police Action
An incident of sacrilege has been reported in the Anand Nagar locality of Khanna, located in Ludhiana district, leading to widespread tension and outrage among local residents. The CCTV footage purportedly shows three juveniles tearing angs (holy pages) from Gutka Sahib and scattering them on the road. Police Response and Investigation Underway
Senior police officials, including DSP Samrala Tarlochan Singh and DSP Khanna Vinod Kumar, promptly reached the site with separate teams to lead the investigation. Upon discovering the sacrilege, a large number of residents gathered at the spot, expressing deep resentment and demanding justice. In response, the police have stated that an FIR is being registered, and a comprehensive probe is in progress.
DSP Tarlochan Singh commented on the situation, highlighting broader security concerns. He noted that many individuals in the area are residing without proper police verification. As a result, a special drive will be launched to take legal action against those who have rented out property without adequate identification or verification of their tenants, aiming to prevent such incidents in the future.
Community and SGPC Involvement
Teams from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) also reached the spot to collect and secure the torn pages of Gutka Sahib. Paramjit Singh, a member of the SGPC team, condemned the act as highly reprehensible and called for the strictest possible action against those responsible. This involvement underscores the community's deep emotional and religious connection to the incident, with locals urging authorities to ensure such offenses are not repeated.
