Surge in MDMA Cases in Kochi District

This arrest is part of a broader trend of increasing MDMA incidents in the region. In the first three months of 2026 alone, nearly 40 youths have been apprehended in connection with MDMA possession and distribution in the district. During this period, authorities have seized over 1.5 kilograms of the substance, indicating a substantial presence of the drug in the area.

Demographic Insights into Arrests:

  • Most of those arrested are individuals in their 20s, reflecting a concerning involvement of young adults in drug activities.
  • At least four women have also been taken into custody in related cases, pointing to a diverse demographic engaged in these illicit practices.

The ongoing crackdown by Kochi police aims to curb the spread of MDMA and other narcotics, with a focus on both enforcement and prevention strategies to protect the community from the dangers of drug abuse.
