Koderma Court Delivers Life Sentences in 2021 Murder Case
In a significant ruling, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ghulam Haider in Koderma has handed down life imprisonment to three members of a family for their involvement in a brutal murder that occurred in 2021. The convicts, identified as Madan Sao (50), his wife Sarita Devi, and their son Mukesh (24), were found guilty of killing Mahendra Saw in Bekowar village.
Court Imposes Fines and Additional Penalties
The court not only sentenced the trio to life imprisonment but also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each individual. It was explicitly noted that failure to pay this fine would result in an additional year of jail time, underscoring the severity of the punishment for their heinous crime.
Details of the 2021 Incident
The case traces back to June 10, 2021, when Mahendra Saw left his home in the morning for work. According to police reports, he was intercepted by the accused family and several others who were armed with sharp weapons. The group launched a violent attack with the clear intent to kill him, stemming from an old rivalry.
When Mahendra's brother, wife, and son heard his screams and rushed to intervene, they were also brutally assaulted, sustaining serious injuries in the process. Mahendra suffered deep wounds to his head and ears and was rushed to Sadar Hospital. Tragically, doctors declared him dead during his treatment.
Legal Proceedings and FIR Lodging
An FIR was promptly lodged on the complaint of Bhagat Saw, the brother of the deceased, initiating the legal process that led to this conviction.
