Kolhapur Jeweller Robbed at Gunpoint by Masked Gang on Saturday Night
A shocking armed robbery unfolded in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, on Saturday night, targeting a 45-year-old jeweller. The victim, identified as Tejaram Peraji Mali-Sundesha, was ambushed by five bike-borne men while returning home after closing his jewellery shop in Sangrul village near Kolhapur.
Coordinated Attack by Masked Assailants
According to police reports, the robbery was meticulously planned. Two masked men had been surveilling the jeweller's movements and alerted three accomplices waiting at the Vilas Croner area after Tejaram left his shop. The gang then chased him down, stopped him at gunpoint, and forcibly took him to a nearby field.
There, they taped his mouth shut and tied his hands and legs before looting gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 6 lakh. The assailants also stole the victim's mobile phone and electric motorcycle, which they later abandoned at an undisclosed location before fleeing towards Kolhapur city.
Victim Rescued by Passersby, Police Investigation Underway
Tejaram, a resident of Shukarwar Peth in Kolhapur, was eventually helped by some passersby who found him in distress. After he recounted the harrowing incident, locals immediately alerted the police. Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into the armed robbery, examining CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to track down the perpetrators.
This brazen crime has heightened concerns about law and order in the region, particularly for business owners transporting valuable goods. The police are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, as they intensify efforts to apprehend the bike-borne gang responsible for this violent theft.
