Kolhapur Youth Brutally Murdered in Satara Over Social Media Interaction
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, an 18-year-old youth, Somnath Jadhav, was allegedly murdered by four men in the early hours of Friday at Dhavalpati village, located in Satara's Phaltan tehsil. The gruesome attack, as reported by the local police, stemmed from the victim's social media chats with a girl and a late-night visit to her home, highlighting a disturbing trend of violence linked to digital interactions.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The police have registered a case at the Phaltan rural police station, with Inspector Sandeep Jagtap confirming that one accused, Aditya Shinde, has been arrested. A manhunt is underway for three other suspects, and during the investigation, an additional accomplice has been detained, underscoring the complexity of the case. Somnath, a resident of Miryachiwadi in Satara district, had been engaging in social media conversations with the sister of one of the accused, a fact that reportedly displeased her relatives.
According to the complaint filed by Somnath's father, Sandeep Jadhav, the tension escalated when Sandeep received a mysterious call around 1:15 AM on Friday from his son's mobile phone. The caller, with an unfamiliar voice, instructed Sandeep to check if Somnath was at home. Upon discovering his son missing, Sandeep was directed to Dhavalpati, where he failed to locate Somnath. The caller then redirected him to the Miryachiwadi entrance arch.
Confrontation and Fatal Assault
At the designated spot, Sandeep encountered three individuals emerging from a car, including Somnath. The two men from the car allegedly confronted Sandeep, stating, "Your son is chatting with our sister. We have beaten him up. We will not let him live." Despite Sandeep's attempts to reason with them, the situation quickly deteriorated. Two more men arrived on a motorcycle, and all four assailants launched a vicious attack on Somnath, kicking, punching, and beating him on the face, chest, and stomach.
Somnath tried to flee but was chased down and killed at Dhavalpati. Sandeep called his brother for assistance, and the unconscious youth was rushed home before being transported to a hospital in Phaltan via a four-wheeler. Doctors provided primary treatment, but Somnath's movements had ceased entirely. He was later examined at the Phaltan sub-district hospital and declared dead, marking a tragic end to the altercation.
