In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, a 50-year-old woman was brutally hacked to death inside the beauty parlour she owned in Garia's Mahamayatala area on Tuesday. The assailant, a 44-year-old man believed to be from either Haryana or Kashmir, was discovered dead outside the parlour shortly after the crime. Police suspect he slashed his own neck following the murder, dying by suicide.

According to police reports, Rupbani Das arrived at her parlour in Tentultala at 12:05 pm, dropped off by her husband Anup. Soon after, a man identified as Pankaj entered the establishment. An employee, who had never seen him before, recounted that Rupbani angrily asked him to leave, but he refused. This quickly escalated into a loud argument, prompting the employee to immediately alert Rupbani's family by phone.
Locals were soon alerted by a woman's screams emanating from inside the parlour. Someone called Rupbani's residence, and when her relatives rushed to the scene, they found her lying in a pool of blood with a deep gash in her neck. Blood was splattered throughout the parlour, indicating a violent struggle had taken place. Police arrived promptly, recovered both bodies, and sent them for postmortem examination.
Investigation Points to Soured Relationship
Preliminary investigations by the police point to a relationship that had turned sour as the motive behind this horrific crime. Investigators revealed that the victim and the assailant knew each other, having initially connected on Facebook several years ago. A friendship allegedly developed between them, but it deteriorated over time, leading to the tragic outcome.
Rupbani's uncle, Amarendra Das, confirmed that the family was aware of this man being Rupbani's friend. He further disclosed that about two months ago, she traveled with him to north India, either to Delhi or Haryana, reportedly with plans to expand her beauty parlour business. "She returned a few days ago. We did not notice anything unusual in her behaviour. The murder is extremely shocking," he stated, expressing the family's profound grief and disbelief.
