A 32-year-old government employee, Hafijur Rahaman, was allegedly assaulted and wrongfully restrained by a group of men inside an office in Entally, Kolkata, while performing his official duties on Tuesday afternoon. The police have arrested the prime accused, Avijit Das (36), and are actively searching for his accomplices.
Details of the Incident
Rahaman, a resident of Bechulal Road, was on duty at an office on Ananda Palit Road when Das, along with several others, reportedly barged into the premises. According to police officials, the group cornered Rahaman, subjected him to verbal abuse, and physically assaulted him. They also allegedly threatened him with severe consequences if he continued carrying out his official duties in the area.
Injuries and Medical Treatment
Rahaman sustained multiple injuries during the assault and was immediately taken to NRS Hospital for treatment. He received medical care and was discharged in the evening. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed, but he is reported to be in stable condition.
