Tragic Jeep Accident in Kullu Claims Two Lives, Leaves Three Injured
In a devastating early morning incident, two young men lost their lives and three others sustained injuries when the jeep they were traveling in plunged off a hilly link road near Jana village in Kullu district. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, casting a pall of grief over the local community.

The deceased have been identified as 20-year-old Avinash and 23-year-old Sonam Kumar, both residents of Saur village within the district. The injured individuals are Hemraj, Vivek, and Vijay, all of whom are locals from the area. The police have confirmed that the injured are currently receiving medical treatment and their condition is reported to be stable.
Timeline and Cause of the Accident
According to a police officer, the tragic event unfolded at approximately 3:30 AM. The youths were returning to their villages after participating in the celebration of 'Fagli', a traditional winter festival observed in various parts of Himachal Pradesh, which had taken place in Jana village.
The officer elaborated that Avinash, who was driving the vehicle, lost control near the Jana waterfall. This led to the jeep rolling down a steep incline of about 100 metres. By the time villagers became aware of the accident and reached the scene, both Avinash and Sonam had already succumbed to their injuries.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
Upon discovering the accident, the villagers promptly alerted emergency services. The victims were subsequently transported to the regional hospital in Kullu for medical attention. The police are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the loss of control and the subsequent fall.
