Daily Wage Labourer Killed in Hit-and-Run Near Surajkund, Friend Seriously Injured
A tragic hit-and-run incident in the Surajkund area of Gurgaon has claimed the life of a 42-year-old daily wage labourer and left his friend with serious injuries. The accident occurred on Sunday evening near Intezaar Garden, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The deceased, identified as Neeraj, was working as a waiter at a wedding function at Lotus Garden along with his friend Gautam, a resident of Nangloi in Delhi. After completing their shift, the two were walking towards Delhi while searching for transport when the tragedy struck around 7 pm.
According to police reports, a car approached from the Anangpur Chowk side at high speed and rammed into the duo from behind. The impact was severe, causing critical injuries to both men. They were immediately rushed to BK Hospital in Faridabad for emergency medical attention.
Medical Condition and Police Response
Despite efforts to save him, Neeraj succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital. Gautam sustained multiple injuries, including a forehead wound and swelling in the ankle. He was initially referred to AIIMS Trauma Centre and later shifted to a private hospital in Faridabad. His condition remains serious, and he is currently unfit to provide a statement to authorities.
The incident came to light after Neeraj's family, concerned over his absence, traced his whereabouts and approached the police the following day. Based on a complaint filed by his brother, also a resident of Nangloi, Surajkund police have registered an FIR against an unidentified driver.
Legal Actions and Investigation Progress
The FIR has been filed under Sections 106 (death by negligence), 125(a) (endangering life), and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police officials have confirmed that efforts are actively underway to identify and apprehend the accused driver involved in this reckless act.
Neeraj's body has been kept in the mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Further investigation is in progress, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to piece together the events leading to the accident.
