Lawyer for Twisha's mother-in-law loses cool with media

BHOPAL: Amid heightened media scrutiny over the probe into the death of Twisha Sharma, tense scenes unfolded outside the Katara Hills residence of her mother-in-law Giribala Singh on Friday after the latter's lawyer appeared to lose his cool during an interaction with journalists.

Advocate Enosh George, who represents Giribala Singh in court, had arrived at the residence amid intense media presence surrounding the ongoing investigation into Twisha Sharma's death. As he stepped out and prepared to leave, reporters surrounded him with questions related to the case and the family's legal response. While initially answering calmly, the situation escalated moments later after the vehicle he was boarding allegedly ran over his foot.

In visible pain, George began banging his hand on the bonnet of the vehicle and accused journalists of endangering his life. 'Kaun dega iska jawaab? Marwana chah rahe hain aap logon ko? Mere pair ke uper gaadi chadh gai,' he said, which translates to 'Who will answer for this? Do you people want to get me killed? The vehicle ran over my foot.'

When reporters further asked whether he was planning to file a reply before the court, George responded tersely, 'Humare jawab dene se kya hoga,' meaning 'What difference will our reply make?' The tense exchange comes amid mounting scrutiny in the Twisha Sharma death case.

Twisha was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide, while the Singh family has claimed she was struggling with drug addiction. Police have registered an FIR against husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh under Sections 80(2) (dowry death), 85 (cruelty against a married woman by husband or relatives), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

The incident has added a new layer of tension to an already sensitive case, drawing attention to the legal proceedings and the interaction between the defense counsel and the media. As the investigation continues, both sides await further developments in court.
