Leopard Found Dead Near Manali-Atal Tunnel Route
A leopard carcass was discovered on Sunday in the Dhundi nullah, situated along the Manali-Atal Tunnel route in Himachal Pradesh. The local forest department received information about the incident and promptly dispatched a team to the site for assessment and necessary action.
The remains were transported to the Sub-divisional Hospital at Aleo, Manali, where a qualified veterinarian conducted a post-mortem examination. According to the veterinarian, the examination was carried out in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Act and departmental guidelines. The findings indicated that the leopard died due to natural causes.
No Evidence of Foul Play
Forest Department officials confirmed that no foul play is suspected in the animal's death. The carcass was disposed of following prescribed legal procedures. The incident has drawn attention to wildlife in the region, particularly along the busy Manali-Atal Tunnel corridor.
Authorities have urged the public to report any wildlife sightings or incidents to the forest department. The leopard's death, while unfortunate, was deemed natural and not a result of human intervention or accident.
