Vadodara Court Delivers Life Sentences in Shocking 2021 Murder

The District Sessions Court in Vadodara has pronounced a life imprisonment sentence for two men found guilty of the brutal 2021 murder of their friend, Atul Thakor, on the outskirts of Sevasi village. The convicts, identified as Sachin Mori and Sagar Parmar, were convicted for killing Thakor before stealing the jewellery he was wearing and concealing his vehicle.

Motive and the Grisly Crime

According to the police investigation, the primary motive for the murder was an illicit affair. Sachin Mori was having an affair with Atul Thakor's wife and found it increasingly difficult to meet her with her husband in the picture. To remove this obstacle, Mori devised a plan and enlisted the help of his accomplice, Sagar Parmar.

In April 2021, the duo executed their plan by calling Thakor to meet them. They took him to a secluded spot, where the attack unfolded. The assailants first assaulted Thakor with iron pipes. Parmar then proceeded to stab him multiple times, leading to his tragic death.

Investigation and Swift Justice

When Atul Thakor did not return home for several hours, his worried family initiated a search and subsequently alerted the police. The search led to the discovery of his body the following day on the outskirts of Sevasi. The taluka police immediately registered a murder case.

The investigation, spearheaded by then Police Sub-Inspector Jaydeepsinh Sarvaiya, quickly zeroed in on the victim's acquaintances. The probe established that Mori and Parmar were the perpetrators, with the affair being the central motive. Both men were arrested within days of the crime. The police later filed a chargesheet backed by conclusive evidence, which ultimately led to their conviction in court.

The court's decision to award life imprisonment brings a measure of closure to a case that shocked the local community and highlighted the grim consequences of personal betrayal.
