Three Convicts Receive Life Sentences in Haryana Murder Case

The Additional District and Sessions Judge in Kurukshetra has delivered a significant verdict, sentencing three people to life imprisonment in a murder case that dates back to 2020. The convicts include a woman and two men, marking a decisive conclusion to a lengthy legal process.

The individuals convicted have been identified as Baljeet Singh and Jaswinder Singh, both residents of Patiala, and Baljinder Kaur, a resident of Kurukshetra. The case originated on July 21, 2020, when a woman filed a complaint with the police, reporting that her son, Manjeet, was found dead in his house. Manjeet worked as a labourer, and the investigation revealed injury marks on his neck caused by a sharp-edged weapon.

Following the complaint, a murder case was officially registered at the Pehowa police station. During the subsequent investigation, authorities arrested Manjeet's wife, Baljinder Kaur, along with her friend Jaswinder Singh and Jaswinder's friend Baljeet Singh. All three were charged with murder, leading to their prosecution in court.

Court Ruling and Legal Implications

According to a spokesperson from the Kurukshetra police, the court found Baljeet Singh and Jaswinder Singh guilty of offences under Sections 302 (murder), 460 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In addition to life imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1.75 lakh on each of the two male convicts. Baljinder Kaur was also sentenced to life imprisonment as part of the conspiracy, highlighting the court's stance on severe penalties for such crimes.
