Lokayukta Police Arrest Two KUWSDB Engineers in Ballari Bribery Case
Ballari Lokayukta police have arrested two engineers of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 55,000. The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by Veeresh, a resident of Ballari.
Details of the Complaint and Trap
According to Lokayukta officials, the complainant had approached the engineers for a water supply connection. The engineers allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 55,000 to process the application. Veeresh subsequently filed a complaint with the Ballari Lokayukta police, who set up a trap. The accused were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
Investigation and Legal Action
The arrested engineers have been identified as an assistant engineer and a junior engineer. They have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway to ascertain if there are other beneficiaries involved in the bribery racket.
