Lonavla Police Book 16 for Dancing to Loud Music

The Lonavla City police on Monday registered a case against 16 individuals, including seven women, for dancing to loud music around 1 a.m. in a bungalow at Bhangarwadi. A police team raided the bungalow around 1 a.m. on Monday and discovered that the men and women had consumed and possessed liquor without a valid permit.

Legal Action Taken

The 16 people, along with the bungalow owner and caretaker, have been booked under Sections 270 (public nuisance) and 296 (obscene acts and songs) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, an officer said.

Police Investigation

An officer from the Lonavla City police stated that they received information about a group of men and women creating a nuisance for residents of the society in Bhangarwadi. The group was dancing to loud music on the bungalow premises. When the police team arrived at the scene, they found nine men and seven women dancing under the influence of alcohol. The men were from Beed district, while the women belonged to different states across the country. Beer and liquor bottles were recovered from the bungalow.

The officer added that the men and women were taken to a government hospital in Talegaon Dabhade for medical tests, which confirmed that they had consumed liquor. No permit was found with them.
