Lucknow Witnesses Two Mobile Snatchings Within Five Minutes in Rajajipuram
In a concerning series of events, Lucknow reported back-to-back mobile snatching incidents in the Rajajipuram area late on Friday night. The two crimes occurred within a mere five-minute span, highlighting a spike in street-level theft in the city. The incidents have been officially registered under the jurisdiction of the Talkatora police station, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities.
Details of the First Snatching Incident
The first incident unfolded around 10 PM when Ashutosh Tripathi, a resident of C-Block in Rajajipuram, was taking an evening stroll near his residence. According to police reports, two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle approached him suddenly. In a swift and forceful move, they snatched his mobile phone and fled the scene before he could react effectively. This brazen act set the stage for another similar crime moments later.
Second Snatching Occurs Minutes Later
Merely minutes after the first theft, the same bike-borne snatchers struck again, this time targeting Vinay Kumar Srivastava, who lives in Sector-13 of Rajajipuram. Vinay was reportedly walking while engaged in a phone conversation when the accused accosted him. They forcibly took his mobile device and sped away, exploiting the cover of darkness and poor lighting conditions in the locality. Both victims attempted to chase the perpetrators but were unsuccessful due to the rapid escape and dimly lit environment.
Police Response and Investigation Underway
In response to these incidents, the Talkatora police have lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified persons under Section 304(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Inspector Kuldeep Singh of the Talkatora police station provided updates on the ongoing investigation. He stated that police teams are actively reviewing CCTV footage from surrounding areas to trace the movements and identities of the accused. Additionally, dedicated police squads have been deployed in the region to enhance surveillance and prevent further occurrences.
Inspector Singh emphasized that the investigation is progressing with urgency, and authorities are confident that the snatchers will be apprehended soon. The police are also examining witness statements and gathering evidence to build a strong case. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant, especially during late hours, and report any suspicious activities immediately to the nearest police station.
This incident underscores the need for improved street lighting and heightened police patrolling in residential areas to deter such crimes. The community's cooperation with law enforcement is crucial in ensuring swift justice and maintaining public safety in Lucknow.
