Lucknow Dhaba Clash: 5 Youths Injured Over Insect Complaint in Food
A violent clash erupted at a roadside dhaba in Lucknow's Aashiana area after customers complained about insects in their food, leaving five youths with serious head injuries. The incident, which occurred on April 16, has led to the registration of a police FIR against the dhaba owner and 10-12 unidentified persons.
Violence Erupts Over Food Safety Complaint
According to police reports, complainant Surya Mani Shukla and his friends Anurag Mani Tripathi, Surya Karan Shukla, Ankit Shukla, and Manoj Joshi had gone for dinner at an eatery near Pakri Pul. The group alleged that when they complained about flies and insects in their food and demanded replacement, the dhaba owner hurled abuses at them.
The situation escalated dramatically when the group warned of filing a complaint under FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) norms. In response, the accused called in 10-12 men who attacked the group using iron rods, pipes, knives, bricks, and even cooking utensils.
Serious Injuries and Police Response
All five youths sustained serious head injuries with heavy bleeding during the violent assault. Eyewitnesses alerted police, but the accused shut the dhaba and fled before authorities arrived at the scene.
The injured were initially taken to Lokbandhu Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later referred to SGPGI (Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences). Medical reports indicate multiple stitches were required, particularly for head and ear wounds.
Legal Action and Investigation
Aashiana police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Pal Chicken Corner at Paki Pul and 10-12 unidentified persons. SHO Chhatrapal Singh confirmed the FIR has been lodged and investigations are underway.
This incident highlights growing concerns about food safety enforcement and public safety at roadside eateries in urban areas. The violent response to a legitimate food safety complaint raises questions about compliance with FSSAI regulations and the protection of consumer rights.
