Lucknow Hotelier Arrested for Fatal Holi Accident in Sushant Golf City
In a tragic incident on Holi, March 5, a city hotelier was arrested for allegedly driving rashly and causing an accident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals and serious injuries to a woman in Sushant Golf City, Lucknow. The accused, identified as Shivam Singh Chauhan, aged 31 and a resident of Khurdahi Bazar under the Sushant Golf City police station, was taken into custody following a police investigation.
Details of the Collision and Aftermath
According to police reports, Chauhan was driving an SUV at high speed when he allegedly collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The impact left all three riders on the motorcycle critically injured. The complainant, Sumesh Kumar, a resident of Gopal Kheda village in Mohanlalganj, stated that his father, Sushil Kumar, who was driving the motorcycle, and his father-in-law, Munnilal, who was riding pillion, both succumbed to their injuries. His mother, Babli, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Initial police response involved lodging an FIR under Sections 281 for rash driving, 125(B), and 106(1) for negligent acts causing death at the Sushant Golf City police station. At that time, the car driver had not been identified, as mentioned by Additional DCP of the South Zone, Vasanth Kumar.
Investigation and Arrest Process
ADCP Kumar elaborated that police teams traced the vehicle involved in the accident and identified its owner and driver, leading to Chauhan's arrest. During interrogation, Chauhan allegedly admitted to driving the car at high speed and in the wrong direction on the day of the incident, which resulted in the collision with the motorcycle. He had abandoned the car at the roadside and fled the scene immediately after the accident, according to police statements.
Authorities seized the car as evidence in the case and produced it before the court. The accused was subsequently presented before a judicial magistrate and sent to judicial custody, as confirmed by officials involved in the proceedings.
