A 50-year-old man was arrested in Lucknow on Thursday on charges of sexually abusing his 14-year-old stepdaughter and secretly recording obscene videos of her. The arrest followed a complaint filed by the victim's mother, a contractual nursing officer, leading to the registration of an FIR and the accused being taken into custody.
Background of the Case
According to the FIR, the woman's first husband died in 2021. Under immense pressure from her in-laws, she later married a relative of her deceased husband, who works as a clerk in the irrigation department. The woman alleged that her second husband repeatedly assaulted her, forced physical relations without her consent, and subjected her to continuous harassment.
Allegations of Sexual Abuse
The woman further claimed that the accused made multiple attempts to sexually exploit her minor daughter. He allegedly hid a mobile phone in the bathroom to record the girl while she was bathing. The woman also accused the man of pressuring her to make the 14-year-old sleep in the same room at night, beating her when she objected, issuing threats, and taking away her jewellery.
Police Action
Inspector Dhirendra Kumar Singh confirmed that a case has been registered and the accused has been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
