A 25-year-old man accused of attempting to sexually assault women candidates who were travelling for examinations was arrested following a brief police encounter in Para on Monday. The accused, identified as Haseeb, allegedly lured two young women into his autorickshaw from Charbagh bus station and drove them to a secluded location, where he attempted to sexually exploit them, according to police reports.

Details of the Incident

When the women resisted his advances, Haseeb allegedly assaulted them and behaved indecently, causing injuries to the victims. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the west zone, Kamlesh Dixit, stated that police traced the autorickshaw and attempted to apprehend the suspect. During the chase, the accused opened fire on the police team while trying to flee. He was injured in retaliatory firing and subsequently overpowered by law enforcement officers.

Medical Treatment and Recovery

After the encounter, Haseeb was admitted to a government hospital for treatment of his injuries. Police recovered a country-made pistol, live cartridges, and spent shells from the scene, along with the vehicle used in the crime. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure that justice is served for the victims.
