Lucknow: Man killed by brother, wife in property row

A violent family dispute over property in Lucknow culminated in a tragic murder on Tuesday evening, sending shockwaves through the Khargapur area of Gomti Nagar. Police reported that a 52-year-old man, identified as Ramdev, was allegedly beaten to death by his younger brother and his wife following a heated argument about the division of the family home.

The Fatal Confrontation Near Panchayat Bhawan

The incident unfolded around 8:30 PM on Tuesday when Ramdev stepped out to buy vegetables. He was intercepted near the panchayat bhawan by his younger brother, Monu, and Monu's wife, Seema. The couple confronted Ramdev, demanding a share in the family house. When Ramdev refused their demands, the verbal argument quickly escalated into a physical assault.

According to police accounts, Monu attacked his elder brother with a bamboo stick. The violence did not stop even after Ramdev fell to the ground. In a brutal turn, the accused Monu allegedly climbed onto Ramdev's chest and proceeded to kick him repeatedly. The savage assault was witnessed by locals who began gathering at the spot, prompting the couple to flee the scene.

Rush to Hospital and Tragic Outcome

Alerted by a village youth who informed Ramdev's son, Jitesh, over the phone, family members rushed to the location. With the help of passers-by, they transported the critically injured Ramdev to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to the Lohia Institute for advanced care.

Despite all efforts, doctors at the institute could not save him and declared Ramdev dead. The sudden and violent loss has left the family and local community in a state of profound grief and disbelief.

Police Investigation and Manhunt Launched

Speaking on the case, SHO Gomti Nagar Extension Sudhir Awasthi confirmed that a search operation is underway to locate and apprehend the accused couple, Monu and Seema. The police are treating this as a clear case of murder stemming from a domestic property dispute. Investigators are piecing together the sequence of events and gathering statements from eyewitnesses and family members.
