Lucknow Man Lured with Job Promise, Killed in Tamil Nadu; Three Arrested

A tragic case of deception and violence has emerged from Lucknow, where a 22-year-old man was allegedly lured with the promise of employment and subsequently killed in Tamil Nadu. The Uttar Pradesh Police have made significant progress in the investigation, arresting two men and a woman in connection with this heinous crime.

Victim and Initial Disappearance

The victim, identified as Saurabh Rawat, was a resident of Bakshi Ka Talab in Lucknow. According to police reports, he left his home on April 10 with three individuals who had assured him they would arrange a job for him in southern India. Shortly after his departure, his mobile phone became unreachable, causing immediate concern among his family members.

When repeated attempts to contact him proved futile, his mother, Manorama, took decisive action by filing a missing person complaint at the Mahigawan police station on April 19. In her complaint, she named the suspects, which prompted the police to launch a formal investigation.

Arrests and Suspect Details

Through diligent investigative work, the police traced the accused to Barabanki district. The arrested individuals have been identified as Akhilesh, aged 21, Kamlesh, aged 30, and Preeti, aged 29, who is Kamlesh's wife. All three are residents of Pilehati village under the Kursi police station limits in Barabanki. Police noted that Akhilesh and Kamlesh are brothers, adding a familial dimension to the case.

Investigation and Confession

Initially, the accused told investigators that Saurabh had disembarked from the train near Jhansi and that they were unaware of his subsequent whereabouts. However, Station House Officer Ram Kumar Gupta revealed that inconsistencies in their statements raised red flags. The police then employed technical surveillance, including mobile phone location data, to track their movements.

Investigators discovered that the location of the accused matched with the victim’s phone near the Jolarpettai railway junction in Tamil Nadu around the time of the incident. Under questioning, the trio allegedly confessed to taking Saurabh to Tamil Nadu for work related to a coconut-related business.

Motive and Sequence of Events

Police stated that a dispute erupted during the journey over money and commission, leading to a violent altercation. According to their account, Saurabh was allegedly pushed from a moving train, resulting in his death. Officials emphasized that the exact motive and sequence of events are still being verified, and coordination with Tamil Nadu Police is actively underway to gather more evidence and clarify the circumstances.

This case highlights the dangers of job scams and the importance of vigilance when seeking employment opportunities, especially in unfamiliar regions. The Uttar Pradesh Police continue to work on the investigation to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
