Lucknow Businessman Murder: Son Confesses to Shooting, Dismembering Father

Chilling new details have emerged in the sensational murder of a Lucknow businessman, where a 19-year-old boy shot his father dead, dismembered the body, and attempted to destroy evidence using kerosene. The gruesome crime has shocked the city and revealed a tragic story of familial conflict escalating to extreme violence.

The Fatal Dispute and Shooting

Police have identified the accused as Akshat Pratap Singh, who allegedly killed his father, Manvendra Singh, a pathology and liquor trader, in the early hours of February 20 at their residence in the Ashiyana area. During intensive interrogation, Akshat confessed that he shot his father with a licensed rifle following a heated dispute. The confrontation was reportedly triggered by mounting pressure to clear competitive medical entrance exams, particularly the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Vikrant Vir stated that Akshat admitted frequent disputes with his father over studies and career expectations had been escalating. "He confessed to shooting his father in anger during one such argument. The accused is now in custody, and further legal action is underway," Vir explained.

Gruesome Dismemberment and Evidence Concealment

Investigators revealed that after the murder, Akshat undertook a horrifying process of dismembering his father's body. He severed both hands, cut off the legs below the knees, and decapitated the victim. The torso was then packed into a sleeping bag and concealed inside a blue drum within the house itself.

Other body parts were disposed of in a secluded area near Sadrauna, though the victim's head remains missing despite extensive search efforts. Police sources further disclosed that Akshat had procured approximately 10 liters of kerosene and was planning to burn the remains to eliminate forensic evidence completely. However, his arrest occurred before he could execute this final stage of his plan.

Deception Attempts and Investigation Breakthrough

In a calculated attempt to mislead investigators, Akshat filed a missing person complaint, falsely claiming his father had traveled to Delhi. He also told acquaintances that his father had died by suicide, creating an alternative narrative to divert suspicion. However, inconsistencies in his statements and suspicious behavior during questioning eventually led to a breakthrough.

During sustained interrogation, Akshat broke down and confessed to the entire crime. The investigation revealed that the murder was allegedly committed in the presence of the accused's sister, who was reportedly threatened into silence about what she witnessed.

Ongoing Investigation and Forensic Analysis

Forensic teams have conducted thorough evidence collection from the crime scene, and the recovered body parts have been sent for detailed post-mortem examination. Police are continuing their efforts to locate the remaining missing body parts, particularly the head, and reconstruct the complete sequence of events with precision.

The case highlights extreme consequences of academic pressure and familial conflict, with investigators working to establish every detail of this tragic incident that has left the Lucknow community in shock.
