Ludhiana E-Rickshaw Driver Targeted in Brazen Daylight Shooting

A terrifying drive-by shooting incident on a busy Ludhiana road has left the city's residents in shock. The Ladhowal police are actively investigating an attack where three unidentified men in a car opened fire on an e-rickshaw driver this past Saturday.

The Attack: A Harrowing Account

The victim, Bikramjit Singh, a resident of Kapur Singh Wala village in the Ladhowal area, was going about his daily work. The son of a former Congress sarpanch, Bikramjit drives an e-rickshaw to support his family. He had just dropped off a woman passenger and her child at Chaharan village when the attack unfolded.

As Bikramjit Singh reached near Khaira Hospital on Hambran Road, a white car with no registration plate abruptly blocked his path. One of the occupants lowered the window, pulled out a pistol, and fired directly at him. The bullet struck the front window of the e-rickshaw.

Showing quick reflexes, Bikramjit ducked and narrowly avoided injury. In a further act of intimidation, the assailant allegedly extended his hand from the car, raised a finger, and threatened to kill him before the car sped away from the scene.

Police Investigation Underway

Following a formal complaint from Bikramjit Singh, the Ladhowal police station has registered a case against the unknown assailants. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Major Singh, the investigating officer, confirmed that police teams rushed to the spot upon receiving information.

As part of the probe, authorities have examined CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area around Hambran Road. A significant challenge for the police is the unclear motive behind the attack. Bikramjit Singh has reportedly stated that he has no known enemies and cannot identify the people who shot at him.

Community Concern and Ongoing Probe

This brazen attack in a public area has raised serious concerns about safety and law and order. The use of a firearm in a crowded locale points to a daring criminal act. The police investigation is currently focused on piecing together the sequence of events from the CCTV evidence and exploring all possible angles.

The lack of a visible registration plate on the assailants' white car adds another layer of complexity to the case. The Ludhiana police have assured that all efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in this shocking incident.
