In a shocking escalation of neighborhood tensions, five men are currently receiving medical treatment after a brutal armed attack turned a hospital car park into a violent battleground in Ludhiana. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, stemmed from what police describe as a petty social snub related to exclusion from a religious pilgrimage.
From Wedding Celebration to Hospital Violence
The chain of violence began during traditional Punjabi pre-wedding festivities known as 'Jaago' celebrations. According to police reports, the situation escalated dramatically when Mohit and his companions left the wedding ceremony around 2:30 AM to collect mattresses for guests. At this point, they were allegedly intercepted by seven individuals armed with knives and a recently licensed firearm.
The initial confrontation resulted in four men sustaining slash wounds before the attackers followed their targets to the civil hospital, where the victims had gone seeking medical attention and safety following the first altercation in the Jawahar Nagar area.

As the injured group exited the medical facility, their assailants launched a second, more violent attack in the hospital parking area. In the ensuing chaos, a fifth victim identified as Dharminder from Abdullapur Basti suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Dharminder Kumar, head of the Janakpuri police post, confirmed that "the gang attacked them with knives once more" during this second confrontation at the hospital premises.
Pilgrimage Exclusion Sparks Deadly Grudge
Police investigations have revealed that the violent dispute traces back to an annual bus pilgrimage to Baba Balaknath that occurred last year. According to authorities, a friend of the accused individuals had reportedly caused disturbances during that religious journey, leading organizers to exclude him from this year's pilgrimage.
The attacking gang allegedly believed that Mohit was responsible for blacklisting their friend from the religious trip, creating simmering tensions that finally erupted into violence during the wedding celebrations.

The situation turned particularly dangerous when one of the alleged attackers, identified as Sooraj Bhatti, reportedly produced a .45-bore licensed pistol that had been recently acquired. Police claim that Bhatti fired at least four rounds during the hospital parking lot confrontation, with one bullet striking Dharminder in the leg.
The Division Number 2 police have registered a First Information Report against seven named suspects including Sooraj Bhatti, Prakash Bhinda, Saurav, Chirag, Karan Negi, Rohit, and Shiva on charges of attempted murder. ASI Dharminder Kumar noted that "the accused and the injured are mostly from the same neighbourhood," indicating longstanding local tensions.
