Ludhiana Horror: Man Dismembered, Friend & Wife Booked After CCTV Footage
Ludhiana: Man's dismembered body found, friend & wife booked

In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through Ludhiana, the dismembered body of a 35-year-old man was discovered in the Salem Tabri area, leading to the booking of his close friend and the friend's wife. The gruesome discovery was made on Thursday, January 9, 2026, after a passerby alerted the police to a suspicious plastic drum.

Gruesome Discovery in Salem Tabri

The victim was identified as Davinder Kumar, a 35-year-old who worked at a printing and graphic designing shop in Mumbai. Kumar had returned to his hometown of Ludhiana earlier in the week, only to meet a horrific end. The police investigation took a macabre turn when the head of the deceased was found inside a white plastic drum near the Salem Tabri police station. A subsequent search of the vicinity led to the discovery of his other body parts, scattered at different locations in the area.

CCTV Footage and Arrests

Providing crucial evidence, CCTV footage from the area reportedly captured the prime suspects in the act. Sameer Verma, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police in Ludhiana, stated that the footage shows the main accused, Shamsher Singh alias Shera, and his wife, Kuldeep Kaur, carrying a sack believed to contain the victim's body parts for disposal. Based on this and other evidence, the Salem Tabri police registered a First Information Report (FIR) for murder and other offences against Shera, his wife Kuldeep Kaur, and other unidentified aides.

The police theory suggests that a violent altercation erupted between Kumar and his friend Shera when they met. "In a fit of rage, Shera, his wife, and other aides hacked him to death and chopped his body into six pieces," ADCP Sameer Verma explained. The accused then allegedly attempted to dispose of the remains in a sack, an act partially captured on camera.

Family's Anguish and Police Probe

The victim's family members informed the police that after arriving from Mumbai on Tuesday, Kumar left his home within just 15 minutes and never returned. Davinder Kumar is survived by his wife and a young daughter, who are now grappling with the tragic loss. The FIR was formally registered following a statement given by Kumar's grieving wife.

The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend all individuals involved and establish a clear motive for this brutal crime. The incident has highlighted grave concerns about violent crime in the region and the lengths to which perpetrators will go to conceal their acts.
