Ludhiana Police Arrest 2 Rohit Godara Gang Members, Recover Illegal Weapons
Ludhiana Police Arrest 2 Gang Members After Encounter

In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Ludhiana Police successfully apprehended two alleged members of the notorious Rohit Godara gang following a brief exchange of fire. The operation, which unfolded in the Salem Tabri area, led to the recovery of a cache of illegal firearms and ammunition.

Encounter in Salem Tabri Leads to Arrests

The incident occurred on a Thursday night when a police team, acting on a tip-off about suspicious activities, conducted a raid near a vacant plot in Salem Tabri. Upon being challenged by the police, the two individuals attempted to flee and opened fire, prompting the officers to retaliate in self-defence. The encounter resulted in both suspects sustaining gunshot wounds to their legs before being overpowered and taken into custody.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Lovepreet Singh, alias Lovely, and Sarabjit Singh, alias Saba. Police investigations have linked them directly to the criminal syndicate led by Rohit Godara, a designated terrorist who is currently believed to be operating from abroad.

Illegal Weapons and Ammunition Seized

A major haul of illegal arms was recovered from the possession of the arrested duo. The seized items include:

  • Two .32-bore pistols
  • Four live cartridges
  • Two empty cartridges
  • A motorcycle used in criminal activities

The recovery of these weapons underscores the persistent threat posed by such gangs and the ongoing efforts of the police to disarm criminal networks operating in the region.

Ongoing Investigations and Gang Links

Senior police officials stated that the arrested men were actively involved in executing tasks for the Rohit Godara gang, which is known for its involvement in extortion, contract killings, and other serious crimes across Punjab and neighbouring states. The police are now delving deeper into their recent activities, potential local connections, and any pending criminal cases against them.

The encounter and subsequent arrests are seen as a major success for the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate. Authorities have emphasized that this action will significantly disrupt the gang's operations in the area and serve as a strong deterrent to other criminal elements. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, and further interrogation is underway to extract more information about the gang's hierarchy and future plans.

This operation highlights the continued vigilance of the Punjab Police against organized crime syndicates that attempt to undermine law and order. The public has been urged to come forward with any credible information about suspicious persons or activities to aid in maintaining peace and security in the city of Ludhiana.
