Ludhiana: Unidentified Men Fire Seven Shots at House in Jagraon Village
In the early hours of Tuesday, two unidentified men fired at least seven gunshots at a house located in Roomi village, Jagraon. The incident came to light when a woman residing in the house noticed bullet marks on the main gate in the morning and promptly alerted the police.
Details of the Incident
The complainant, Paramjit Kaur, stated that her husband has been living in Canada for the past three years. She lives in the house with her two children and mother-in-law. On the night of the shooting, her mother-in-law had gone to a relative's house, leaving Paramjit and her children at home. Around 2:20 am, while they were asleep, she heard explosive sounds but dismissed them as crackers being burst. However, upon waking up in the morning, she discovered marks of at least six bullets on the main gate and raised an alarm.
Family's Statement
Paramjit's mother-in-law, Malkit Kaur, expressed concern over the attack, stating, "We do not suspect anyone for the attack as we do not have rivalry with anyone. I want police to trace the accused soon as I am worried about the safety of my family."
Police Investigation
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jagraon Jaswinder Singh confirmed that a CCTV camera installed near the house captured two suspects on a motorcycle. Police are currently trying to trace them and have registered a case against the accused. Despite the family's claim of no known rivalry, police suspect that the shooting may have been prompted by an old grudge. They will also contact the complainant's husband to ascertain if the firing has any overseas connection. Police teams have been formed to track and apprehend the accused.
