Panchkula Police Ensures Peaceful Mahashivratri Celebrations with Robust Security Measures
In Panchkula, the Shiv Temple located in Mahadevapura, Saketri, witnessed a massive influx of devotees on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. To manage the large crowds and ensure a safe environment, the police implemented extensive security and traffic arrangements, resulting in a peaceful conclusion to the festival. Thousands of devotees visited the temple throughout the day, with heightened police deployment and continuous monitoring playing a crucial role in maintaining order.
Comprehensive Security Plan Deployed
Anticipating heavy footfall, the police put in place a detailed security strategy that included multiple layers of surveillance and supervision. Around 350 police personnel were deployed specifically to maintain law and order and manage traffic in and around the temple complex. This deployment was overseen by two assistant commissioners of police (ACPs) and three inspectors, who were supported by other officers and staff members.
CCTV cameras were installed across the temple premises and adjoining areas, providing real-time visual coverage. Additionally, police teams utilized binoculars and body cameras to keep a close watch on the crowd and detect any suspicious movements promptly. To further strengthen security, seven special nakas (checkpoints) were set up around the temple and fair area, where vehicles and individuals underwent thorough checks.
Traffic Management and Emergency Preparedness
The traffic police implemented a special plan to prevent congestion and ensure smooth vehicular movement. This included setting up diversions and regulated entry points to facilitate safe access for devotees. Emergency response vehicles, PCR units, rider teams, and foot patrol teams were deployed to ensure uninterrupted patrolling throughout the day, enhancing overall safety and responsiveness.
Coordination and Community Support
Police coordinated closely with the temple management committee to accommodate the heavy footfall effectively. A community langar was organized for visitors, providing refreshments and support. Officials maintained constant communication with temple authorities to ensure smooth crowd flow and avoid any untoward incidents. This collaborative effort helped in managing the large gatherings seamlessly.
In a demonstration of prompt action, police personnel also assisted in reuniting several children who had been separated from their families in the crowd, ensuring their safe return. This highlighted the human aspect of the security measures, emphasizing care and responsibility alongside enforcement.
The successful management of Mahashivratri celebrations in Panchkula underscores the effectiveness of proactive planning and coordination between law enforcement and community stakeholders, setting a benchmark for future large-scale events.
