The crime branch of Delhi Police has arrested the main accused in a daring armed robbery that took place in the upscale Golf Links area in April. The accused, identified as Hasan, along with his associates, allegedly took a businessman and his family hostage and looted their residence.
Details of the Incident
The armed robbery was reported on April 17. According to police, the family's domestic help, Sushil, who had been employed only four to five days prior, facilitated the entry of five to six accomplices into the house. The gang members looted jewellery, cash, and other valuables before fleeing. A case was registered, and three accused were arrested earlier, while several others remain absconding.
Arrest of the Main Accused
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav stated that the main accused, Hasan, was arrested after police received intelligence that he would meet an associate in northeast Delhi's Khajuri area. A trap was laid, and he was apprehended. During interrogation, Hasan revealed that the gang used to recce affluent residential colonies and identify vulnerable targets.
According to police, the gang had placed Sushil as a domestic help to gather information about the daily routine and movement of family members, the location of valuables and cash, and the security arrangements at the house. Sushil gained the trust and confidence of the family while familiarizing himself with the layout of the house and internal arrangements, passing on crucial information to his associates.
