A minor dispute over children picking maize (corn cobs) from a neighbour's field escalated into a violent clash in Thathian village, Tarn Taran, leaving three people injured. According to police sources, the confrontation erupted between the families of Shamsher Singh and Kashmir Singh. Although Shamsher had reportedly apologised on behalf of his children for accidentally breaking a few corn cobs, the field owners, Kashmir and Hasham Singh, remained aggrieved. Once again, a clash erupted between them in which both parties sustained injuries.
Police Investigation Underway
SSP Tarn Taran, Surendra Lamba, stated that the police have registered an FIR against both parties and have begun investigations into the incident to ensure strict legal action. The injured individuals have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable.
The incident highlights how minor disagreements can spiral into violence in rural areas, often due to longstanding tensions. Local authorities have urged residents to resolve disputes amicably and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
