Parshotam Singh, a resident of Mari Kamboke village under the Khalra police station limits in Tarn Taran, has accused his nephew, Sukhdev Singh, of opening fire following a dispute over agricultural land. The incident occurred a few days ago when Parshotam Singh was working in his fields with a tractor.
Altercation Leads to Gunfire
According to the complaint filed by Parshotam Singh, an argument broke out between him and his nephew over agricultural land. Sukhdev Singh allegedly went to his house, retrieved a rifle, and returned to the fields. He was accompanied by his wife, Sumanjit Kaur, and mother, Nirmaljit Kaur. The trio chased Parshotam Singh, who fled in fear and took shelter in a neighbor's house.
Property Vandalized and Shots Fired
After Parshotam Singh escaped, the accused allegedly went to his residence, vandalized the property, and opened fire. No injuries have been reported, but the incident has caused panic in the village. Village elders attempted to mediate and resolve the dispute, but their efforts failed, prompting Parshotam Singh to approach the police.
Legal Action Taken
The police have registered a case against Sukhdev Singh, Sumanjit Kaur, and Nirmaljit Kaur under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and gather evidence.
