Bicholim Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Stabbing Brother in Family Dispute
In a shocking incident of family violence, the Bicholim police on Monday arrested Sanjay Mainkar, 44, for allegedly attempting to murder his younger brother Sagar, 38. The altercation stemmed from a long-standing enmity and occurred at their residence in Haldankarwadi, Mayem, on Sunday night.
Details of the Violent Quarrel
According to police reports, Swara, Sagar's wife, provided a detailed account of the events. She stated that a quarrel erupted between the brothers after Sagar failed to open the door of the family house when Sanjay arrived between 9:30 PM and 11:10 PM. Sanjay, who works as a taxi driver, allegedly became enraged by this refusal.
When Sagar eventually opened the door, Sanjay, in a fit of anger, stabbed him with a knife. The attack left Sagar profusely bleeding, prompting other family members to rush him to the Goa Medical College (GMC) for emergency treatment. Police have confirmed that Sagar's condition remains critical as of the latest updates.
Ongoing Investigation and Police Response
The Bicholim police are actively investigating the case to uncover further motives and circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation is being led by PSI Aakash Parwar, under the guidance of senior officers including PI Vijay Rane Sardesai, SDPO Shridevi, and North Goa SP Harish Madkaikar. Authorities have emphasized that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined to ensure justice is served.
