Man arrested for firing at sister's house in Vasai

Police in the Vasai region have apprehended a 45-year-old man for allegedly firing a gun inside his sister's residence in a shocking incident linked to a financial dispute over bail money. The event occurred in the early hours of Saturday, sending ripples of fear through the local community.

The Early Morning Shooting Incident

Shivshankar Vishwakarma is accused of opening fire at his sister's house in Waliv around 2:30 am on Saturday. According to senior police inspector Dilip Ghuge of Waliv police station, the accused targeted the home after a quarrel over money. Fortunately, no one was injured in the reckless shooting, which could have had tragic consequences.

A Dispute Rooted in a Past Crime

Investigations reveal a troubling backstory leading to the violent outburst. Shivshankar Vishwakarma was previously jailed in 2018 on murder charges. During his incarceration, he had requested his sister, Pushpa Vishwakarma, to secure his bail. She complied with his request and used her own funds to get him released from prison.

However, after his release, Pushpa began asking for her money back. This demand for repayment reportedly irritated and angered Shivshankar, ultimately triggering the violent retaliation. "After this, the sister started asking for her money back, which irritated the accused and he fired inside her house," explained Senior Inspector Ghuge, outlining the motive behind the crime.

Police Action and Recovery

The Waliv police acted swiftly following the incident. They have arrested Shivshankar Vishwakarma and are preparing to produce him before a local court to face charges. In a significant seizure, the police also recovered five live rounds of ammunition from the accused. "We have seized five live rounds," confirmed Ghuge, highlighting the potential danger averted.

The case underscores how personal and financial disputes can escalate into serious criminal acts, endangering lives. The prompt response by the Waliv police prevented any physical harm and led to the swift arrest of the accused, ensuring he faces legal consequences for his actions.
