Namakkal: A man was arrested in Namakkal on Friday on charges of posing as a vigilance officer. The arrested individual has been identified as N Sasikumar, 42, a resident of Trichy district. The incident unfolded when real estate businessman K Dharanitharan arrived at the Namakkal sub-registrar office for land registration. Sasikumar approached him, pretending to be a vigilance officer, and questioned him about the purpose of his visit.

Suspicious Behavior Leads to Arrest

Dharanitharan grew suspicious of Sasikumar's demeanor and promptly informed the Namakkal vigilance office. Vigilance Inspector Prabhu swiftly apprehended the suspect, conducted a thorough inquiry, and subsequently alerted the Namakkal police. Police investigations revealed that Sasikumar, an engineering graduate, had previously deceived several individuals by impersonating a vigilance or income tax officer.

Previous Incidents of Impersonation

Approximately six months ago, Sasikumar had visited Dharanitharan's office, introducing himself as an income tax officer, and inquired about the real estate business. Additionally, Sasikumar is facing a case for threatening a village administrative officer in Trichy district. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover any further instances of fraud.
