A 50-year-old man has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district for allegedly repeatedly raping his 14-year-old mentally challenged relative after luring her with sums of Rs 10 to Rs 20, leaving her four months pregnant.
Incident Details
According to the police complaint filed by the survivor's father, the first assault occurred on February 9, 2026, when the accused lured the teenager to a secluded spot near their house. The victim's mother witnessed the accused handing the girl a Rs 10 note but was unaware of the assault, merely scolding the man and driving him away. The father alleged that the accused assaulted the minor again at the same location on May 28, 2026, and threatened to kill her if she spoke out.
Discovery of Abuse
The systemic abuse came to light on June 1, 2026, when the girl's health deteriorated. Her family took her to a hospital, where a medical examination confirmed she was four to five months pregnant. Following the medical results, the teenager narrated the ordeal to her parents. The victim's uncle further alleged that the accused had been sexually exploiting the minor for several months, routinely using sums of Rs 10 to Rs 20 to lure her.
Police Action
Mainpuri police swiftly moved to secure the area and apprehend the suspect. SP (Rural) Abhishek Tiwari stated, "Following a formal complaint, a case was registered and the accused has been arrested and sent to jail. Further investigation is underway, and strict legal action will follow." SHO Chandral Singh confirmed that the accused has been booked under BNS sections 64 (rape) and 351 (criminal intimidation), alongside relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
The case highlights the vulnerability of mentally challenged minors and the importance of family vigilance. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure justice for the victim.
